World Teachers’ Day: The significant role that educators play in the development of youngsters

Johannesburg – World Teachers’ Day, which is commemorated in October every year, is a reminder of the significant role that teachers play in our lives from a young age.

School-level teaching may seem like a straightforward vocation which includes a routine 8am to 3pm schedule that involves some of the fundamental duties associated with education.

But, as the Covid-19 pandemic highlighted, South African teachers are often called to go beyond the call of duty and have had to diversify their skill sets underpinned by a high level of emotional intelligence.
