Thuli Madonsela to celebrate 60th birthday by fundraising in effort to scrap student debt

Professor Thuli Madonsela plans to celebrate her milestone 60th birthday on 28 September by raising money for #Action4Inclusion through a silent auction of a recently completed oil painting of her by celebrated South African artist, Shany van den Berg.

Prof Madonsela’s birthday celebration is to ensure that no student is denied access to higher education based on their financial struggles. With graduation approaching in December, this is another effort on her side to scrap student debt.

The proceeds of the silent auction of Madonsela’s portrait will go to Stellenbosch University’s #Action4Inclusion initiative, launched in 2020.
