The Western Cape’s school admission is under strain.
The Western Cape’s education department warned parents the education system was under immense pressure and would battle to place pupils in January next year.
“Our schools are full, and we are going to struggle to place learners whose parents only apply on arrival in January next year,” said MEC for Education David Maynier on Wednesday.
The department has already placed 111 616 pupils for Grades 1-8 for the 2023 academic year. This is 50 000 more pupils than it had placed last year this time.
