This follows a probe into allegations of cheating during the writing of this year’s National Senior Certificate papers in Mpumalanga.
Reports say pupils allegedly paid teachers up to R1 500 to join chat groups – where answers were posted during the exams.
More than 350 learners received answers through WhatsApp.

It’s alleged that some invigilators are also involved in the scandal.
Sadtu’s Nomarashiya Caluza says these types of incidents undermine the profession.
“For this to not happen in the future, the department will have to ensure that measures are put in place to secure and make sure that there is security of papers so that no one has access before others.”
