Minister Angie Motshekga meets with Early Childhood Development Practitioners in Vereeniging, 2 Jun

The Minister of Basic Education, Ms Angie Motshekga, will on Thursday 02 June 2022 take the Early Childhood Development (ECD) stakeholder engagements roadshow to Vereeniging in the Sedibeng District Municipality, Gauteng.

As from 01 April 2022, the Early Childhood Development (ECD) function officially migrated to the to the Department of Basic Education (DBE) from the Department of Social Development (DSD) as directed by President Cyril Ramaphosa during the 2019 State of the Nation Address (SONA). The DBE continues to engage with the ECD Practitioners and other stakeholders since the ECD function shift.

The minister will be supported by the MEC of Education in Gauteng, Mr Panyaza Lesufi, Sedibeng MMC of Sports, Recreation, Arts, Culture, Heritage & Public Safety, Cllr Busang Tsotetsi, MMC of Health & Social Development Cllr Nkubi Mokoena, MMC of Environment & Clean Energy Cllr Mamokete Radebe and leaders from other stakeholder organisations in the municipality.

The meeting is also aimed at creating awareness among a wide range of communities on departmental programmes and solicit their support and participation.
