Minister Angie Motshekga to commemorate Mandela Month in Sedibeng District, Gauteng

The Minister of Basic Education Mrs Angie Motshekga, will on Monday, 25 July 2022 preside over commemoration of the Mandela Month at Jet Nteo High in Boipatong and Emmanuel Primary in Sharpeville, both in the Sedibeng district, Gauteng.

The Mandela Month Day commemoration event forms part of the Ministerial Roadshows aimed at providing timely interventions to challenges faced by schools.

Each school will receive a donation of Gardening Equipment by Nestlé and Fertilizers by Greener Pastures including a R20 000 donation by MIET Africa to help schools with Winter Essentials.

Every year the department engages in commemorative activities to highlight national days, historic anniversaries and significant events. The DBE invites schools across provinces to celebrate national days such as Human Rights, Freedom, Youth, Heritage, Africa, Women’s and Mandela Month. These events form part of an integrated approach by Basic Education sector to the realisation of social cohesion and nation building.
