A tenacious Parktown High School for Girls’ pupil who played football for the South African Regional Women’s League wants to be a powerhouse in sports and bring much-needed recognition to women’s sports.
“It’s difficult for a woman to make their name in a woman’s sport,” said Tashriq Elmedany, who has been playing soccer for almost 10 years and is a central midfielder.
“They always have their sporting career and another job to survive, whereas male athletes have one job… and they can make a living out of it.”
