A 16-year-old learner from Mqhawe Secondary School in Ntuzuma, KwaZulu-Natal was expected to appear in court on Tuesday, 15 November after he allegedly shot and wounded his teacher.
The teacher reportedly reprimanded the learner for making noise while matriculants were writing their exam.

According to the South African Police Service (SAPS), the incident happened on Thursday 10 October around 11:30.
It is alleged that after being reprimanded the learner threatened the teacher and told him that he would shoot him once the school was out, which he allegedly did.
Police spokesperson Lieutenant Colonel Nqobile Gwala did confirm the incident.
