Inside top EC schools’ matric ’40 days’: Poisoned fish, drowned chickens, and laxative-fed pigeons


Boys and girls of two top schools in Gqeberha have been accused of bringing shame to their schools.

Grey High School and Collegiate Girls’ High School pupils are being investigated over acts of animal cruelty. Koi fish were allegedly poisoned, chickens plucked and drowned, and pigeons fed laxative by pupils running amok on school grounds during celebrations on Tuesday night. The Eastern Cape Department of Education said it was shocked and disturbed by the incidents. 

The Eastern Cape Department of Education has urged Grey High School and Collegiate Girls’ High School to speedily finalise investigations into allegations of animal cruelty at the two top schools.
