Free State Education confident of improved matric performance this year – SABC News

The Free State Education Department is confident of an improved performance as it prepares its matric learners ahead of the 2022 final exams.

Last year, the province managed to achieve an 85.7% matric pass rate.

The province has 45 000 matric candidates with 6000 part-time learners who will sit for this year’s finals.

The provincial Education Department spokesperson Howard Ndaba says: “Our target still remains 90% pass rate and 40% bachelors and we are confident that if you look at last year, where we are coming from devastating COVID-19 pandemic, we managed to obtain 85.7% pass rate.”
