Eastern Cape matrics to write core subjects like maths, accounting in IsiXhosa and Sesotho


A cohort of matric candidates will write core subjects in isiXhosa and Sesotho.

The Eastern Cape has the first cohort of matric candidates to write core subjects such as maths, accounting and physical science in isiXhosa and Sesotho. The group is part of a pilot project. Pupils were taught the subjects in their home languages from Grade 8. The provincial education department hope the project will help elevate the two languages. 

For the first time, matrics in the Eastern Cape are writing their trial examinations in isiXhosa and Sesotho.
