Stellenbosch University student Giséle Lavita, who was raised on the Cape Flats by her single mother, has become one of the institutions youngest Doctor of Law (LLD) graduates at age 25.
Her degree is based on research she was doing for her master’s degree in 2020. But her work, which focused on the regulation of Airbnb, was of such an exceptional quality that external reviewers suggested an upgrade to an LLD.
Her study was then completed at a doctoral level.
