Anglo American and Department of Basic Education to launch second phase of education programme to improve learners’ outcomes
Anglo American and the Department of Basic Education will tomorrow, 22 July 2022, launch a holistic education programme to improve learners’ outcomes in schools local to Anglo American’s operations in South Africa.
The Anglo American Education Programme, part of the company’s Sustainable Mining Plan, will focus on a new cohort of 80 early childhood development (ECD) sites and 84 selected primary and secondary schools.
Developed together with the National Department of Basic Education, the Anglo American Education Programme, complements the Department’s action plan – Towards the Realisation of Schooling 2030—which details strategies that aim to improve the performance of South Africa’s schooling system.The launch will feature Ms Nolitha Fakude, the Chairperson of Anglo American’s Management Board in South Africa, and the Minister of Basic Education, Mrs Angie Motshekga.
