Basic Education hosts the 22nd National Teaching Awards, 20 Oct

Basic Education Department to acknowledge the nations’ best teachers at the 22nd National Teaching Awards

The Department of Basic Education will tomorrow, Thursday 20 October host the 22nd National Teaching Awards (NTA) which will be held at the CSIR International Convention Centre in Brummeria, Pretoria.

The annual awards are hosted in recognition of the nation’s foremost teachers and to celebrate outstanding educators who, often under challenging circumstances, remain committed to their roles in moulding the citizens of the future.

Teachers nominated represent the diverse nature of schools across the country and will be awarded for their excellence across a variety of categories including, but not limited to Excellence in Grade R Teaching, Excellence in Primary School Teaching, Excellence in Secondary School Teaching, Excellence in Secondary School Leadership as well as the Lifetime Achievement Award.

The 22nd edition of the Awards has been benchmarked against worldwide teacher award strategies such as the African Union Teacher Prize, the Commonwealth Education Awards and the Global Teacher Prize.
