Basic Education Department and NECT to launch 1 Million Story Books Campaign in Kwa-Mhlanga

The Department of Basic Education, and the National Education Collaboration Trust (NECT) will tomorrow, Friday 02 September 2022 launch the One Million Storybooks Project at the Hlalisanane Primary School in Kwa Mhlanga, Mpumalanga.

The One Million Storybooks Project aims to provide high-quality Foundation Phase stories in African languages with the goal to address the shortage of reading resources for pleasure in indigenous languages, the joint collaboration with the NECT has seen the developed of 189 book titles for learners in the Foundation Phase. In addition, the collaboration will see the distribution of books to 8882 Primary Schools in 444 circuits identified for support through the National Reading Coalition.
