What does a Speech and Language Therapist do?

SLTs work with a range of disorders, challenges, learning and communication difficulties. Basically, a SLT may work with a person who experiences challenges with feeding, talking, auditory processing, receptive and expressive language, reading, writing and appropriate communication in different social contexts, which is known as pragmatics. The field is exciting and broad.

The concept of fidget toys is based on the theory whereby some children seek the need to touch and feel things to provide the required amount of sensory input, to calm their nervous system. The physiological stimulation that fidgeting provides can bring a child’s attention back to the task at hand, and allow them to focus, thus enhancing their learning opportunities.
